I’d say my very own entry into the world was a creative one at that. I was born 3 ½ hours after my twin sister, when most twins are usually minutes apart (sorry, mom). I like to say now that I kicked her out and was taking my time, enjoying all of the room she took up before. Or that I wanted my own moment, my own grand entrance since I was born second. Honestly, whatever imaginative story my mind can think of at the time I’m asked, I say that’s my reasoning for my late arrival. My mom didn’t appreciate my creativity then though, but she does love seeing all of the ads I make now.

All joking aside, my real creative journey started at the age of 8 with a piece of paper, a pencil, and a drawing of my elementary school’s mascot (a tiger) with books that represented different school subjects. To my surprise, my little sketch won my school’s design contest and it was printed the following year on planners that were distributed to every student. Now, as a third grader, this was a pretty big deal, and I felt like the coolest kid in school … for about a week. Of course, I was always an artsy kid, but winning that design contest was when I really discovered that I loved creating. 

Then a whole lot of years later, I discovered the Adobe Creative Cloud and advertising and, well, I fell in love and am still in love to this day. ◡̈

Alexis Rodriguez is an Art Director/Graphic Designer. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Boston University with two minors in Visual Arts and Deaf Studies. She is currently seeking Art Direction/Design positions. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends, watch TV, listen to music, travel, attend concerts, write, and go shopping.
